Goodbye OPSS

ok.
I know it's been a while already
but i need to put down some of the thoughts

This must be one of the greatest decisions that i had to make in my life.
In short,I had 5 good years i guess.
Even in the last 2 years when things changed, i had wonderful kids and always had wonderful friends...

friends

One thing i take with me from these 5 years is: we all need friends!
Nobody can survive withour friends. In teaching at least.
I've seen how the ordinary morphed into wonderful and the mighty crumble
all because of friends.
I think i've made some lifelong friends in OPSS.

My two sisters and mummy-dopey and billie and ai lee, my surround sound speakers when they get into my car and just about everywhere we go. They are loud, unabashed, looney, dramatic, larger than life and a whole lot of fun. We marked together, played bridge, sang, worked(a little,i think) together. And brought noise(life) to the staff room. Thanks for the memories,my dear sisters and mummy.

My pe dept- chee kuan, rod, chin seng, ramesh. We worked on so many things together. Thanks for showing me how to bully younger staff and get away with it. ahahaha. To each of you, i saluate your commitment and professionalism as we work together. I 've gleaned so much from each of you. and I'll never forget the moment when we group-hugged after scoring the goal in extra time in the quarters of the MOE soocer competition. One of my greatest regrets is not to being able to play more soccer together in the parade square. cj, dawei, gazza, matt, mok, thanks for the soccer memories.

my makan/bintan kakis- soo, my british friend, naf, carol, mandy.
Our numerous food and leisure expeditions have been life changing, not to mention size- changing. With you guys around, work became less of a drag and we could always count on a getaway to unwind and talk.

Then there's the inspirational vic. thank you for being who you are.

This short entry does no justice to all you wonderful people. But know that you're greatly appreciated and you all have a special place in my heart.i'll miss u guys.

a helping hand

He was in trouble
The signs were all showing
His eyes were transfixed to the screen infront
And the frown hid his troubled eyes
He glanced downwards frantic for help
There wasn't enough to go around

I walked over briskly and squat down beside him.

"do you need to borrow my fingers?"

it was 13 + 5.

There weren't enough of them to go around.

He broke out in a smile and hit the buttons on the keyboard.

18!

sigh..what a blogspot moment!

"uncle, can i go toilet?" and the stuff kids say

This is Wee Chou.
He keeps calling me uncle!!
I'm tutoring now and he's in my class.
He has very short attention span and doesn't like to do his work.
He'll be fiddling with the sharpeners, pencils, talking, looking at the other kids on the computer,
or just making wierd noises with kai xiang.
Then he'll remember the toilet option and

"uncle, can i go toilet?"

"Why you call me, uncle?"

"Oh sorry teacher..can i go toilet?"

He calls billie, Mrs Tan. There is no other teacher here.

10 mins later...

"uncle, i finish my work."

Wee Chou gets on my nerves pretty much.
Handling young kids can be fun. But making them do work is no joke.
I feel i've lost control many times in the tuition class when he goes on making
chicken sounds, barking, meowing.
I have not idea how to stop those!
And then he'll roar with laughter with kai xiang.

But i have a soft spot for Wee Chou.

Look at the old photo above
and see if you can locate uncle.
Seated, front row, extreme left.

My mum and sister think so.

LIFO

i'm using the LIFO method of blogging.
Last In, First Out.

haha..i actually feel a little more knowledgable than those of you who dunno this accounting term.

Sorry about the time lapse.

What does jogging, getting out of bed and blogging have in common?

You only know you've made the right decision after you've done it.

The other activity commonly used in this question is eating vegetables.

I wouldn't put that in for 2 reasons.
1. I like more vegetables now.
2. Those that i still can't stand, they're still wrong decisions eating them.

ok.
Some of you are lost.

----------------------------------------------------
Here's a joke to make up for it.
(the new paper actually has some decent ones)

--------------------------------------------------------

A bus conductor with a really bad temper was charged in court after a man he beat up on the bus died. He was charged with murder and sentenced to death by electric chair. On the day of his death penalty, he was strapped to the chair and just as the executioner was about to turn on the power, he asked,"Can i have an unripe green banana?"

The executioner was shocked but gave it to him anyway. He ate the banana and was executed.
The electricity didn't kill him!

His sentence was postponed and the next time, he asked for an unripe green banana again.
He ate it and again the electric chair didn't work on him.

The third time, he asked for the unriped green banana, ate it and survived the chair again!

The law of the country states that anyone who has survived the electric chair 3 times must be freed.
When he left prison, he was swamped by reporters.
"Sir, what's the secret of the unripe green bananas??"
"Sir, are you going to write a book on the phenomenon of the UGBs?"

"Nope. I'm just a bad conductor.

----------------------------------------------

and i'm a bad blogger to make you endure that.

Tell me that's not funny!!

ok. time to start reflecting..
